plane ticket watchdog
is the 21 and/or 14 day period for buying plane tickets, still applicable during the holidays?
I want to get the best deal on tickets taveling from Los Angeles to Boston during the holidays. I know that they say the best time to buy tickets is 21 days before your flight, and if you miss that time 14 days. What I am wondering is if this applies during the holidays, or are all bets off during this time? I have tried the various websites (kayak, farecast, airfare watchdog), but I can’t seem to get an answer.
Any help would be great!
The earlier you book plane tickets, the cheaper they will be. Forget the 21/14 rule – it doesn’t work. To get cheap tickets, book at least 2 to 3 months in advance, especially on busy routes like LA to Boston and during the holidays. I speak from personal experience – if I book a couple of months ahead sometimes it is half the price of what the ticket would be at 2 weeks before. The holidays are especially expensive. If you wait until 2 weeks before you plan to travel, the rates will be absolutely ridiculous.
