hello im 37 weeks and i would like to see my family back in UK how long after giving birth do i have to wait to fly and would the child need all his injections before traveling.
Dates of shots vary from country to country. Our baby had his quite late, and they don’t combine DPT with the polio oral here, you have to wait at least a month between them. If I recall they let babies travel after a couple of days on planes, but not the mothers. When I needed to travel on Virgin after a birth they made me wait a minimum of 4 weeks. They also might want a doctor’s letter saying that you and/or your baby are ok to fly for 12 hours. Don’t forget you’ll need time to get both passports, that way you won’t need visas at either end and you can both wait in the same queue when you get to blighty. They don’t complain in Japan if you wait in the re-entry permit line and have a baby with a Japanese passport with you, but in blighty they obviously won’t be happy if you waltz through the EU resident line with a non-EU baby. Babies don’t need all their injections before travelling as they’re age related. If you go somewhere that means you need specific jabs like a tropical place or something then it would be a problem.
